Training Modules

Module : Welcome To The Machine

Suitable For : All levels, non-technical, business focused
Time : 3 hours (including breaks and time for questions)
Location : This session is in person, and assumes a location is provided suitable to host the number of students you wish to include, as well as a projecter and whiteboard. If you do not have facilities, please contact Kellman to make arrangements for you.

Description: This session focuses on the impact to business that cloud as an architecture represents. Starting with an overview of the market, and a look into the evolution of service delivery. If you are a consumer of IT services, and want to understand what a migration to cloud services can offer, this will help frame a plan around consuming new services with minimal impact to existing infrastructure. If you are a reseller of IT services, this will help you in identifying the new world of services available to the market. As part of the training, we will explore the future direction of IT services as it relates to emerging technologies like machine learning, and blockchain applications. There is no limit to the number of students, however effectivness for questions and interaction declines beyond 20 students.
What To Expect : Students will appreciate cloud as an architecture, and what it has to offer, without all the abstraction layers. This will make subsequent training on cloud technologies easier to understand, and they should be able to identify high level risks and rewards of migrating services to the cloud. This will assist in communicating to customers or management, key values that technology concepts like microservices, machine learning and blockchain will represent as they move forward, fostering better communication and more consise goals for enabling a business to consume IT as a utility.

Cost : $750 + travel and expenses as applicable.

Module : Agile Infrastructure

Suitable For : technical, network/infrastructure experience
Time : 4 hours (including breaks and time for questions)
Location : This session is in person, and assumes a location is provided suitable to host the number of students you wish to include, as well as a projecter and whiteboard. If you do not have facilities, please contact Kellman to make arrangements for you.

Description: Before you commit to a cloud service, take some time to understand what is happening under the abstraction layer you are being presented with. No previous cloud experience, or account required. This session will have students work as a group to build a container based service on a cluster of hosts, to see first hand how key/value pairs become the template for agile service support. The focus is around the underlying infrastructure tools and designs in use today, and how operations changes when introducing things like microservice applications, and how to ensure you can gain the visability and control you require, without impacting the rapid development and deployment of services. This session is hands on, and includes a hands on build of a container architecture. Access to the hands on requires a current web browser; cloud infrastructure included as part of the training, no public cloud account needed for the student.

Cost : $1250 + travel and expenses as applicable

Suitable For : Follow up to Agile Infrastructure. technical, network/infrastructure experience
Time : 3 hours (including breaks and time for questions)
Location : This session is online.

Description: This session will have students build their own container based service on a cluster of hosts. Access to the hands on requires an account on cloud infrastructure and will ensure the student has their own development and test platform in the cloud, that can be built and deployed anytime it is needed. This module is guided online, and assumes the student will continue self-study and practice with their own architecture.

Cost : $600 (additional time or followup available at $200/hr)
