I have been invited to speak at GovSec 2016, looking forward to seeing everyone and sharing ideas and concepts around security, with a focus this year on insider threats.

The Westin Hotel and Conference Center
CF Rideau Centre, 11 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa, ON K1N 9H4

What you can expect is some lively discussions and an original keynote from yours truly. This is a goverment focused session, so we will keep the discussion around the government sector, but that in itself is a whole complex web of challenges. We all like to talk about the Advanced Persistient threats, and targeted nation state attacks like it’s a spy movie, but for the people working in security for goverment facilities, this is a very real threat, and just one of a list of things they have to account for each and every day. For this session I hope to challenge you to make your security architecture produce information, not just collect it. Incorporating data pipes to things like machine learning sound hopeful, but let’s make sure we understand what this really offers those of us in the security realm. It’s not ‘if’ you are going to be leveraging deeper analytics with automation, it’s that you are going to have to, sooner or later.
